Evidence-Based Care,

Rooted in Compassion.

Transforming Mental Health Care

At Acorn & Oak Therapy, my mission is to support your growth, resilience, and transformation by providing compassionate, person-centered care.

I believe that growth is not linear, but a spectrum.

Each of us carries the acorn and the oak within us, and are connected to all stages of our past, present, and future selves at once.

I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive space where individuals can plant the seeds of self-discovery, develop strong roots, and flourish into your most authentic self.

A Modern Approach

At Acorn & Oak, you are provided a space to have secure and confidential virtual therapy to make mental health care more accessible and flexible, designed to fit your life.

Whether you're at home, at work, or anywhere in between, I meet you where you are, both emotionally and literally, to provide personalized, supportive care that fits your life. As long as you are in a safe and private place, feel free to come exactly as you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I want to create a space for you to be yourself, and let you be in the drivers seat of your own care plan. Usually we will start by checking in on what’s been going on since last session. Then I will usually direct our conversations towards one of your goals, or leaving room to discuss if something new has come up that you. At the end of sessions we will confirm our next appointment, and create a plan for you to practice your new skills in between sessions.

  • It depends. Some clients might work on specific challenges for a few sessions, while others focus ongoing patterns or executive functioning skills. We’ll track progress together by creating goals and keeping track of them during sessions. Therapy is most effective when you are putting in the effort both in and out of sessions.

My job is to put myself out of a job; to give you the tools that you need to work on your goals. We might not solve every single problem or conflict while we are working together, but instead we are filling your tool box to continue your own work after sessions conclude.

You also have free will, and are welcome to end therapy at anytime that you feel appropriate. you are under no obligation to stay for any specific length of time.

  • Therapy works best when you’re open to exploring your patterns. We’ll focus on practical tools for stress, overwhelm, and daily life challenges. Most people notice small shifts in a few sessions. Therapy should feel challenging, because that is the place that we grow, but I also work towards finding balance in our sessions.

  • You should feel heard, supported, and able to be real. I try and bring my most genuine self to sessions to make it feel comfortable and approachable, not stuffy and pressured.

If it doesn’t feel right after a few sessions, we can explore next steps or referrals without any judgment or pressure from me. The most important part of therapy is to feel comfortable and to be able to create a trusting relationship.

  • That’s normal. Therapy helps give you a space and unpressured space to talk about what’s going on in you life, and uncover patterns that you might be experiencing. I will help to guide the conversations, and offer connections and insight to what I am observing. As we move towards your goals, we will keep checking in on our goals to see if we need to refine skills, or change directions.

  • Nope. We focus on what’s affecting you now, like work, relationships, or daily stress. Therapy is about building tools, and we can talk about a specific area that you want to process.

  • Nope! We can talk about anything and everything that is relevant to your life experience and needs.

We can talk about your childhood, the movie you just saw that made you cry, that text from your ex, why you feel like your boss has it out for you, your sex life… the floor is yours.

**The only time I would have to break confidentiality in sessions would be if you disclosed any intent to harm yourself or others. This would be with the intention of protecting yours and others safety, and only done when absolutely necessary, and you would be told directly if this needed to happen.

  • PLEASE feel free to bring this up in sessions!!! I strongly encourage and welcome all feedback about how you feel sessions are going, if you feel like we are focusing on the right topics, or if you feel like I need to alter the tone of sessions. This is your time, and I want you to embrace that you are in control of the therapy environment.

  • ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I am shocked at how many times I have heard from clients that they had a therapist in the past that tried to push their values or beliefs onto them in a session.

I firmly believe that the only way to help you succeed in meeting your goals is to build trust and meet you where you are in whatever areas of life you chose to be.

While I am open to incorporating anyone’s faith or culture into sessions if they choose, that decision is ultimately up to you. I am not here to convert anyone or try to project my own belief systems or values onto anyone. If this is something that is a close and empowering part of your life and identity, or something that you are looking to process and come to a better understanding of your own personal values outside of that construct, I am here to help support you and your journey.

  • Absolutely not! atherapy should feel like a guided conversation. Sometimes we might tap into something heavier and more challenging, other times we might be talking something funny that happened to you this week. I try to provide balance and while I will try to challenge you, I am very conscious about not overwhelming you and creating a negative experience.

  • I do not provide cookie cutter therapy; I tailor your sessions based on your needs, goals, and preferences.
Most often I use my certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps you to find connections between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

I also use Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) informed tools to help build balance between acceptance and change in daily life.

I am Certified in Mindfulness Practice to encourage you to observe without judgement to help reduce stress and increase awareness of thoughts and emotions.

Throughout the year I complete ongoing training to continue my education, keep up with updated information, and adapt to new situations that I come across in the field.

  • The beauty of virtual therapy is that you can chose to have them just about anywhere that is private and safe! Your living room, the guest room at your parents home*, your parked car on lunch break.

The only limitation is that during our appointments no one can be near you that can hear or participate in our sessions, and you can’t be doing something distracting or dangerous like driving your car.

You must be in the same state that you reside, due state laws and, insurance guidelines, and my licensure mandates.

  • I am open for virtual sessions on:

    Mondays - 10:30am to 3:00pm

    Thursdays - 10:30am to 3:00pm

    Fridays - 7:30am to 3:00pm.

I will have more availability in March 2026 during daytime hours.

I do not offer evening appointments. I chose to model self-care and allow space to spend time with my family and activities in my community.

  • First step is to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. We’ll talk about your goals, challenges, and how therapy can support you, then decide together how to move forward.

  • I have been told that my face has subtitles, so if you are looking for a stuffy therapist that only nods and asks “so how did that make you feel?”, then I am not the therapist for you.

I pride myself on being down-to earth, and bringing an approachable and comfortable feeling to sessions. It will generally feel like a GOOD vent session that you walk away from feeling supported, heard, and empowered.

We will laugh, chat about a mix of heavy and light topics, and I will be there every step of the way to help you learn your patterns and create new skills to get you where you want to be.

I tend to be fairly direct, and have been known to call clients out (respectfully, to varying degrees of directness, and usually with a warning). I will hold space for you to examine your own accountability in situations, which may be uncomfortable at times, it is where growth happens most.

I am well experienced in my field, being a social worker since 2010. I have worn many hats; you name it, I have likely had some level of experience there. I don’t say that (just) to brag, but to let you know that I will likely have experience in an area that you are experiencing, giving me better hands-on insight into how support you through that.

To be very upfront and honest, while I might not be the perfect fit for everyone, I have a strong track record for providing comprehensive clinical support, and have received very positive feedback from the people I have worked with in the past. Most clients decide to stay through the length of care, and have shared significant positive effects from the tools and skills they have we have been able to develop while working together.

There is never a guarantee of what exactly we can achieve in therapy together, but know that I am passionate about the services I provide and the people I work with, I will bring that same energy and care into sessions with you as well.

  • Many people worry about being judged for being in therapy. The important thing to know is that therapy is private. You get to choose who, if anyone, knows you’re in therapy. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for taking care of your mental health.

  • Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential, and I am legally required to protect your privacy.

If you use insurance, limited information is shared securely for billing. Private pay options are available for those who prefer additional confidentiality.

In rare situations—such as safety concerns or a court subpoena—I may be required to share specific information, and only what is legally requested. I keep notes clinically focused and avoid unnecessary personal detail.

If you have questions about confidentiality, I’m always happy to discuss them.
